Welcome to the “Sign” Me Up For Justice home page!
Ontario’s Attorney General is looking for new ideas to make it easier for the public to access our courts. Navigating through a courthouse can be a challenging, and sometimes intimidating task, especially when people are dealing with a serious issue before the courts.
With a commitment to accessibility and the need to serve greater numbers of self-represented litigants, the Ministry wants to ensure that everyone who walks into a courthouse can find the programs and services they need.
The Attorney General’s “Sign” Me Up For Justice competition challenges Law, Paralegal and Design students to work together and propose creative solutions that will help people find their way through a courthouse, reducing confusion and improving their overall experience.
The competition encourages teamwork across academic disciplines and allows students to apply their design skills and knowledge of the legal system to a real-world challenge.
Students from Law, Paralegal and Design programs at accredited Ontario post-secondary colleges and universities are encouraged to work in teams to prepare design submissions for this competition. Each team must be made up of two to four members, and must include at least one Law or Paralegal student and at least one Design student.
A bursary of $1,500 will be awarded to each member of the team with the winning submission. The deadline for registration is November 14, 2008 and the deadline for entries is November 25, 2008. A panel of Ministry officials and industry professionals will judge the submissions. The winner will be announced by the end of January 2009.
