The Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Office coordinates the administration of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act for the Ministries of the Attorney General and Community Safety and Correctional Services. The Office’s responsibilities include: coordinating and responding to access requests from the public; liaising with the Information and Privacy Commission on appeals and mediation processes; and investigating privacy complaints and possible privacy breaches.
The Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Office is committed to service excellence and aims to provide high quality service in a responsive way to the public.
It is our goal to complete Freedom of Information requests within the 30-day statutory timeframe and extended statutory time limits.

The Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Office welcomes feedback about meeting our service standard.
Feedback or concerns about meeting our service standard should be communicated in writing to the Coordinator, Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Office, Corporate Services Management Division. All reasonable efforts will be made to resolve any concerns brought forward in a fair and consistent manner.
We will respond to complaints about meeting our standard within two business days from the time the complaint is received. Feedback will be used to facilitate continuous improvement to the quality and delivery of our services, and to better understand our clients’ needs.
