The Belleville Police Service will soon have new closed circuit television equipment to help keep the community safe.
With assistance from the Civil Remedies Grant Program, the camera system will be used in high risk areas to deter unlawful activities.
The grant program, created under the Civil Remedies Act, allows money to be taken out of the hands of wrongdoers to use it to prevent unlawful activity.
"These grants are going to law enforcement agencies throughout Ontario to support the efforts of local police officers to enhance the safety of their communities."
- Chris Bentley, Attorney General
"This additional funding from the Attorney General enables our officers to provide even greater security in our community through this modern tool."
- Chief Cory McMullan, Belleville Police Service
"This new technology will be a valuable resource for the Belleville Police Service and assist officers with criminal investigations and help keep Ontarians safe."
- Leona Dombrowsky, MPP Prince Edward-Hastings
