Helping Anishinaabe Victims Of Crime In Fort Frances

McGuinty Government Invests In Local Solutions To Promote Healing

Anishinaabe victims of crime in Fort Frances have improved access to counseling to help them through the healing process and promote cultural identity.

Through support from the Aboriginal Victims Support Grant Program, Weechi-it-te-win Family Services Inc. is:

  • Strengthening cultural support through experiences like story telling, ceremonies, traditional teachings and seasonal camps
  • Helping staff assist victims of abuse through train-the-trainer sessions
  • Hosting anti-violence conferences for community members.

The project is available to all members of the 10 First Nation communities served by Weechi-it-te-win Family Services in the Rainy River District.
