The North Bay Police Service will soon have new GPS equipment and a wireless video camera system to help monitor higher risk areas, prevent unlawful activity and protect the community.
The new equipment was purchased with assistance from the Attorney General’s Civil Remedies Grant Program.
This grant program, created under the Civil Remedies Act, allows for money to be taken out of the hands of wrongdoers and used to assist victims of unlawful activity or to prevent unlawful activity.
"This additional support will ensure that North Bay becomes an even safer and stronger community."
— Chris Bentley, Attorney General
"The Civil Remedies Act takes funds out of the hands of wrong-doers and provides grants that ensure resources are available for local needs. Our government is working with the North Bay Police Service to create a safer, stronger community in North Bay."
— Monique Smith, MPP for Nipissing
"We wish to thank the provincial government for their ongoing support of our Police Service. The funding we will be receiving through the Civil Remedies Grant Program will enable us to greatly enhance our abilities to conduct technical surveillance."
— Chief Paul Cook, North Bay Police Service
