Here's what people are saying about Ontario increasing access to legal aid for families by investing an additional $150 million over four years in Legal Aid Ontario:
"Almost 70 per cent of family legal aid cases involve women making $22,000 or less per year. Nearly all of these cases involve children. This significant investment is critical to ensuring the safety of women and children in Ontario."
– Pamela Cross, Legal Consultant and violence against women advocate
"The County and District Law Presidents' Association Executive welcomes this announcement of the investment and reform initiative. We look forward to consulting with the County and District Law Association Presidents from across Ontario regarding this important initiative in improving access to justice."
– Randall Bocock, Chair of the County and District Law Presidents' Association
"This is the most significant investment in legal aid in decades. The OBA looks forward to participating on the review advisory panels which can revolutionize the face and delivery of legal aid services in Ontario. The proposed reforms are offered in a spirit of cooperation which will ultimately benefit all who participate in Ontario's justice system."
– Carole Brown, President, Ontario Bar Association
