The province has appointed Mr. Justice Marc Bode as a Regional Senior Judge of the Ontario Court of Justice, effective August 12, 2009. 

Mr. Justice Bode was appointed as a provincial judge in January 2008 and presided in Thunder Bay. Chief Justice Annemarie Bonkalo has assigned Mr. Justice Bode as the Regional Senior Judge of the North West Region of Ontario.

Called to the Bar in 1980, Mr. Justice Bode has practised criminal, family, labour and employment law.  He was Legal Aid Ontario’s area director for the district of Thunder Bay and served as president of the Legal Aid Ontario Area Directors Association.  He was a member of the Thunder Bay Youth Justice Committee and a member of the Ontario Bar Association Council, where he focused on continuing legal education.  He has been a speaker at public legal information sessions for Family Services Thunder Bay, Thunder Bay Multicultural Center, Northern Women’s Center and North McIntyre Recreation Association. Mr. Justice Bode also served as president of the Thunder Bay Law Association.

• A Regional Senior Judge of the Ontario Court of Justice exercises the powers and performs the duties of the Chief Justice in his or her region, subject to the authority of the Chief Justice.
• This includes scheduling court hearings, assigning judges to the court hearings, and assigning cases and other judicial duties to individual judges.
