Helping Kapuskasing OPP Increase Road Safety

NEWS

The Kapuskasing OPP detachment is buying new radar equipment thanks to a grant from the Attorney General's Civil Remedies Grant Program.

The detachment will receive a grant of $21,583 to purchase equipment that will help ensure safer roads by making drivers more attentive and more likely to maintain a safer speed along the corridor of Highway 11 patrolled by the detachment.

The grant is from a program created under the Civil Remedies Act that allows money to be taken out of the hands of wrongdoers and used to support the prevention of crime and victimization.

QUOTES

"This grant will give the Kapuskasing OPP another tool to ensure northern Ontarians are safe on the roads. It is another way our government is keeping families and communities safer."

"Thanks to this grant from the Attorney General, the OPP will be able to enhance public safety by increasing public awareness about speeding and other dangerous public driving practices along this busy stretch of Highway 11."
