Civil Forfeiture Funds To Support Timmins Police

Helping Local Police Increase Public Safety

July 27, 2009

News

The Timmins Police Service will soon be able to respond to emergencies faster with a new command and logistics vehicle for its Emergency Response Team.

The service will make the purchase with $120,000 from the Attorney General's Civil Remedies Grant Program. The vehicle will also allow the team to stay on the scene of incidents longer and more effectively assist in the search for missing persons.

The grant is from a program created under the Civil Remedies Act that allows money to be taken out of the hands of wrongdoers and used to support the prevention of crime and victimization.
