Helping Local Police Increase Public Safety
The Timmins Police Service will soon be able to respond to emergencies faster with a new command and logistics vehicle for its Emergency Response Team.
The service will make the purchase with $120,000 from the Attorney General's Civil Remedies Grant Program. The vehicle will also allow the team to stay on the scene of incidents longer and more effectively assist in the search for missing persons.
The grant is from a program created under the Civil Remedies Act that allows money to be taken out of the hands of wrongdoers and used to support the prevention of crime and victimization.
"This vehicle will allow police to respond more quickly and effectively to incidents across the region. Our government is giving police another tool to keep families in the Timmins area safe."
- Chris Bentley, Attorney General
"The Timmins Police Service would like to thank the Attorney General for this grant. These funds will enable us to purchase and equip a very important emergency response vehicle that will help us respond more effectively to public safety incidents in the area."
- Chief Richard Laperriere, Timmins Police Service
