The Office of the Children's Lawyer (formerly the Official Guardian) investigates, advocates, protects and represents the personal and property rights and obligations of children under a disability at law, in proceedings before the courts and tribunals of Ontario. The Children's Lawyer provides legal services primarily for children under various legislation, including section 112 and 89 Courts of Justice Act, the Rules of Civil Procedure, the Child and Family Services Act and the Parens Patriae jurisdiction of the Superior Court of Justice.
