Adult Institutional Services (AIS) is responsible for supervising adult offenders 18 years old and over in custody awaiting trial, sentencing or other judicial proceedings, or those serving sentences not exceeding two years less-a-day. Guided by four regional offices, AIS provides coordinated support to manage institutional facilities, such as jails, detention centres, correctional centres and treatment centres. It also provides coordination and support to regional and field personnel in the development, operation and evaluation of programs and services in adult correctional facilities. The four regional offices report to the Assistant Deputy Minister of AIS.
