Court interpreting is a highly skilled profession and interpreters on the Ministry of the Attorney General Registry of Accredited Freelance Court Interpreters and staff interpreters have demonstrated a level of proficiency through a standardized language interpretation test.
As part of our ongoing efforts to improve the delivery of services, we have developed new tests and a new accreditation model. The new tests will help to determine interpreter strengths and also target areas for skills advancement.
This program will provide Ontario with a world-class court interpreting system that could become a model for other provinces and jurisdictions.
