The Ministry of the Attorney General works to provide a website that is accessible to the widest possible audience, in keeping with our commitment to the Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2001.
To help make our website more useful, easier to navigate and accessible to as many people as possible, we have put the following accessibility features in place:
- Icons (Tool tips and outside links): are visual cues that let the user know when there is additional information available or when the user is about to leave the ministry site to go to a non-ministry website.
- Alt tags are used to display a short text description of an image, when you roll your mouse over it.
- Alternative document formats/multimedia options: we provide transcriptions of all video and audio clips, and ensure all Adobe PDF files are made accessible and openly available. When possible we provide application forms in PDF versions as well as fillable MS Word versions. Instructions on how to access the Adobe Acrobat Reader are included where applicable.
- Page templates are designed without horizontal scrolling.
- Hyperlinks are worded so that they still make sense, when out of context of the surrounding text.
- Content is organized using headings, lists and paragraphs.
- Cascading style sheets are used to simplify HTML code for screen readers and to control style and layout.
- Underlined text is used only to indicate hyperlinks.
- Navigation menus are consistent.
- TeleTYpewriter (TTY) numbers are included with other telephone and fax numbers on the site.
We have made every effort to ensure that you have access to the information you need in the format you require. If at any time you cannot view the information you want, please use the Contact Us link at the top of every page of the site.
We update our website with useful accessibility features continually. If you would like to comment or make a suggestion on how we can make our site more useful to you please feel free to send us an e-mail or call us at 416-326-2220, TDD/TTY 416-326-4012 (Telecommunications Device for the Deaf).
